Fitness - Time to DO IT in 2008!!

I want everyone that reads this article to make a promise to themselves. That they will make 2008 the best, most healthy and productive year ever. Before you go any further, I want you to bookmark this page and refer back to it at least once a week and more if you feel your motivation starting to dwindle.

This is the year we CAN take back control of the health and wellness of our bodies. We have the opportunity to make any changes to our diet and exercise programs we choose, and I say we not let another day slip by without making a change.

I propose that this year we make fast food and sugary drinks more of a thing of the past. We are spending billions each and every year making ourselves look and feel terrible. Enough is enough! Let's vow to eat more fresh fruit and veggies, also tons of chicken, fish, turkey, and lean meats. Let's drink gallons of water. Little changes in diet make a huge difference. Let's take the money we used to put down for fast food and spend it on healthy foods and possibly a new pair of running shoes. Diet is the number one component in the battle for a top-notch body. Ask anyone that has a body of a Greek God or Goddess and they will tell you that diet is 80 % of the battle.

There are many challenges to getting healthy once and for all. Many of us are looking to give up smoking. Almost every person that I ask, "Why do you smoke and continue to do so?" says, "I am hooked" or "It relaxes me". If these same people took the challenge to get fit, I bet they would most certainly get "hooked" on being healthy, and would definitely feel more relaxed. They have just never given it a chance. I once knew a man that gave up drinking and smoking cold turkey and started exercising and you know what? It did not kill him! In fact he is the most lively, self-assured man I know. At over 60 years of age, he regularly competes with and dominates men half his age while exercising. Fluke, I think not. If he had continued down the path he was on, he would now move more like a 70 year old than the 20 something he acts like. I want everyone out there to know that quitting smoking is NOT an impossible task. You can do it! We are all behind you! There are plenty of programs out there to help; you just have to believe in yourself.

Next, I say we walk or run anywhere we can within reason rather than hop in a car and waste gas, and in turn money. Let's spend some of that money on ourselves. Why not try walking to pick up your child from school on nice days? How about parking as far from the store as possible where there are no other cars, and burn off a few extra calories in the process. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is another healthy option. Take all the money you have saved from using less gas and buy yourself something nice. (It's Fun)!!!

I want EVERYONE to be able to grow up and grow old living strong and healthy and to enjoy a long and productive life with your loved ones.

That's it; we all have a blank calendar ahead of us for 2008 and can do with it what we choose. I am willing to shoot for a much better year in 2008, and if YOU give it your best effort, the sky's the limit on what you CAN and WILL accomplish. It is only impossible if we don't try!

Please remember to keep it simple and always stay positive in reaching your goals.
